EMO Hanover 2017 - SORALUCE REALISES THE VISION OF DIGITAL MILLING, BORING AND TURNING EXPERTISE

With three machines on display representing its comprehensive range of milling, boring and turning centres, Soraluce will also be using EMO to showcase its continued emphasis on encouraging and creating digital manufacturing scenarios.

“The developments we are instigating now with machines and automated manufacturing systems are just scratching the surface of the possible rewards that users could harness from 30 years or more of advances in IT and computer technologies,” says the Spanish machine tool builder and multi-axis and multi-tasking machining solutions provider.

“The correct use of these technologies holds the key to information gathering in automated machining scenarios that will enable users to not only boost production output but also help guarantee machining quality and consistency.”

Visitors to the stand will, therefore, be able to discuss the Soraluce Digital strategy.

This includes the Data System, which uses Cloud computing and Big Data technologies in a machine data-driven analytics tools to monitor machine status and condition to ensure optimum operation.

In addition, Advanced HMI is a utility suite on the Heidenhain TNC 640 CNC that presents a user-friendly interface via soft keys, customised diagnostic masks, manufacturing cycles, dynamic collision monitoring and advanced tool management.

The Data System captures and records all relevant information on overall machining cycle performance and energy consumption, as well as temperature, tooling usage/wear, energy consumption and downtime. It also, for example, produces alarms, including by email of key process signs and preventative maintenance requirements. All data is accessible via PC and mobile devices as well as the Internet.

The TA-A35 bed-type mill, FM-T 4000 multi-tasking milling-turning centre and the FR-W 18000 floor-type milling-boring machines will be on show, complemented by the DAS+ enhanced version of the Dynamics Active Stabiliser system.

This award-winning system increases machine stability by reducing chatter, generating improvements in surface quality and, especially under extreme milling conditions, enhances tool life and minimises tool breakage, and effectively boosts machining performance by up to 300 per cent.

Now, as one new feature, DAS+ boasts spindle speed tuning, where the machining process is monitored to reach the best cutting conditions for each particular operation.

The three machines on show will give an insight to the comprehensiveness of Soraluce’s range, but details will also be available of the PXG-W, an extraordinarily large-capacity multi-tasking, milling, turning, boring, drilling and thread generation machine – the largest ever built by the company and having an enormous 7,250 mm between columns (X axis) and a clearance under the bridge (Z axis) of 7,320 mm.

The machine’s work area is divided into two sub-areas: a main area for machining prismatic parts equipped with 12 by 6 metre floorplates and having a load capacity of 25 tonnes/m2; and the second area, with a 6 metre diameter turning table capable of turning diameters up to 9 metres and handling 150 tonne loads. Two operator platforms are provided, each with its own control panel.

Like all Soraluce machines, it is of rigid construction (cast iron throughout for all structural features) and has a number of Soraluce-developed innovations to ensure consistently robust and accurate machining, including:

  • Vertical Ram Balance system – enables the machine to automatically compensate the vertical deflection of the ram using an electro-mechanical system carried in the vertical saddle. This not only corrects the vertical position of the tool tip but also any angular deviation derived from the deflection. The system is integrated with automatic head exchange and is able to dynamically self-correct the true position of the quill for the different heads.

  • Adaptive Control – continuously adjusts the machine’s feed rate in line with power consumption.

  • The SSV system – designed to help avoid the regenerative effect of chatter conditions, which is particularly important for large-scale machining tasks.

YOU WILL FIND SORALUCE AT THIS YEARS EMO EVENT IN HANNOVER - HALL 13, STAND B36
